Getting into School

Sam and Jessica have finished their first week in American high school. Sam is a freshman and Jessica is a Junior at Don Lugo High School in Chino. They are both taking four English classes each day, plus a physical education class and an elective. Jessica is taking dance, and Sam is taking "sports turf".

But they are doing well, and we are glad that they have something to do! School starts at 7:30 and goes until 2:10. Jessica has decided that she would like to walk home in the afternoons! We're not so sure about that.

We have arranged to have a Russian-speaking tutor come over and help them one day a week. There are a lot of questions they have about English grammar that we cannot answer for them because we don't speak Russian. The tutor will be very helpful to them! Her name is Eugenia, and she has been in America for six years. Very nice!

That's it for now. Tomorrow we are going to Santa Barbara to introduce the kids to Aunt Kathy and Uncle Don Sorensen and their cousins Kristy and Bill. Looking forward to that!

Blessings,

Glen
